Editorial policy

Guides are dated 28 September 2026. They lean on the Planning Portal, the English permitted development order, listed-building legislation, Approved Document O, ES-SO, Somfy's published solar-shutter pages, Bubendorff's published solar pages, SWS UK, Secured by Design and public installer pages. Each guide lists the sources it uses.

Illustrations

Prices, watts and night-time heat-loss figures are there so two quotes can be compared. They are not offers. A measured scope replaces them. Temperature drops of 5 to 8 degrees appear in adverts. This site treats them as claims to test, not as promises.

Two products, one word

External roller shutters and internal plantation shutters are both called shutters in Britain. Guides say which one they mean. A firm is named only when its own site publishes the relevant work, and the page tells you to confirm the postcode.
